Freeman Iceberg Races 13
& 14 – 18/12/2022
As you can see from Saturday’s
sunset at Hangleton the prospects for Racing today – Sunday 18th Dec
– looked good. It dawned fully overcast
and grey with a light breeze but still cold but dry.
On arrival at the pond it
was a different situation. Whilst last Sunday the was ice in the south west
corner, close by the clubhouse, this morning after a week of below freezing
temperatures it was ice as far as the
eye could see. Well perhaps not that far as some gulls near the east shore
appeared to be in ice free water.
As a result the RO, Geoff
Sheridan, and those half dozen or more assembled decided that it would be
impossible to race and consequently the day’s events were cancelled.
The next and final race of
the series is planned for Boxing Day. With temperatures forecast to rise into
low double figures from tomorrow hopefully it will be possible to race then.
