Grey Sky, Pouring Rain and a
very, very stiff breeze meant that we journeyed to Piddinghoe to ‘watch’ anyone
foolish enough to sail. The XCweather forecast was for 36 to 41 knots (not
including gusts). On arrival we found Bill Wates, Toby Rollestone with son Ed
and Connie Sturt in the clubhouse, with no boats being rigged and no Race
Officer present anyway. Using my hand held anemometer I checked the strength of
the breeze near the clubhouse/windsurfer launch area – the maximum reading was
41 knots and below is a shot of the then current forecast on Bill’s smartphone.
Everyone left at about 10.00 as it was obvious there would be no racing today.

Hopefully next Sunday the
breeze will be a bit lighter – a lot!.

PS. You may have noticed that there was no blog for races 9 & 10 - due to Bett and I being in Holland over the weekend. I hope to rectify this once I get the results sheets and other data fro Laurence - whose computer is at the 'menders' as I write this spiel.
